PROPOSED PROGRAMME: The 2011 North Island Grade Judo Championships CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: Thursday 7th July 2011. 1. PROGRAMME Sunday 17th July 2011 The North Island Grade Tournament will follow immediately after the Secondary School Championships: Anticipated start time: 2.00pm Youth Events To be advised after close of entries Senior Events To be advised after close of entries Competitors must confirm with the organiser, their availability to compete by 12:00 noon on the day of the competition 2. TOURNAMENT VARIATIONS: AGE GROUPS Youth: 15 – 17 years inclusive Senior: 17 years and over 3. CONTESTS: In Pools with knock-outs if required 4. CATEGORIES AND FIGHT ORDER: Individual grade categories (eg. 5th Kyu, 4TH Kyu etc) starting from the lowest grade. Plus the following Open Categories: Restricted Kyu (5th, 4th, 3th Kyu) Open Kyu (All Grades) Open Grade (Restricted to 2nd Kyu & above) Open Dan (all Dan Grades) The only combined categories will be the designated Opens. 5. DAN PROMOTION POINTS Dan Promotion Points will be obtainable as per F1 of the Grading Syllabus. 6. PRESENTATIONS Certificates will be presented to place getters. There are no medals. 7. TOURNAMENT PROMOTIONS Promotions, if any, are to be announced at the end of the day. This includes promotion by Tournament Batsugan. 8. COMPETITION SEQUENCE For the Grade Tournament the sequence of competition will be from lowest grade (5kyu) to highest grade followed by the appropriate Opens. A timed programme will be advised once entries are finalised. Players are advised to be available in the stadium at least one hour prior to the scheduled time to enable changes to the time table as required. 9. RULES: The Tournament will be run according to the IJF Contest Rules as modified by JNZ and in accordance with the JNZ Sporting Code. 10. CONTEST TIMES: A) Youth: All bouts 4 minutes B) Senior Men & Women: All bouts 5 minutes 11. TYPE OF DRAW : Where there are only two players in the category, the winner will be established by the “best of three” bouts. ALL AGE DIVISIONS For 5 or less players: Round Robin For 6 or more players: An elimination (knock-out) system will be used to produce two finalists. (Gold and silver medallists) All competitors defeated in the main pool are placed in the second pool where an elimination (knock-out) system will be used to produce two equal Bronze medallists. 12. SPONSORSHIP : 1. All sponsorship logos from previous Tournaments must be removed from Judogi. 2. Where a sponsor wishes to sponsor an individual player, Club or Team, but not the Tournament, the sponsors logo may be worn on the competitor's left upper arm of the Judogi with prior JNZ approval. Otherwise, logos must be limited to off the mat sports equipment: T-shirts, Tracksuits sports bags etc. These logos may not be worn during medal presentation without prior NZJF approval. 3. Should, however, such an individual player, Club or team sponsor be likely to conflict with a JNZ sponsor, then no such logo may be displayed in the competition venue. 4. Individual sponsor or Club logos may not exceed 100 square centimetres in total and only one sponsors logo may be worn on the Judogi at any one time. 5. JNZ definition of "conflict" shall be final. Contact JNZ if you have any queries regarding sponsorship. 13. DRUG TESTING : PLEASE NOTE : As with any NZJF Official Championships drug testing may apply at this event. 14. JUDOGI REGULATIONS : The 1990 IJF Contest Rules regarding Judogi size will apply at this tournament. Judogi control will occur before and during each division.All female competitors are required to wear a PLAIN WHITE T-SHIRT under their Judogi. OPTIONAL USE OF WHITE LEOTARDS INSTEAD OF A T-SHIRT FOR WOMEN (IJF 1997) 15. REFUNDS: Refund of entry fee may only be authorised by the Sports Director, to whom written (or email) application (stating the reason for the withdrawal) must be made within one (1) month of end of the Event.
